Head lice (pediculosis)
are a major nuisance in schools, day-cares centers, and many
households. Head Lice affect millions of people every year--mostly young
children. Children love to
play and share things like hats, scarves, combs, and crushes. Unfortunately, those things they share can include
head lice! Further, head lice can be unknowingly shared with other friends
and family members.
Nits (eggs) may survive
after treatments allowing further infestations
|
upon hatching. Careful combing of
the hair to remove all nits is, therefore, recommended, as are regular checks of
children's hair and scalps for signs of head lice.
Head lice are also developing
resistances to treatment products making it increasingly more difficult to
destroy them. Thus, continuing head lice research is vital to develop
effective methods to battle head lice problems.
